It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that we announce the retirement of Dr. Deborah Navedo, our Director of Education, as she moves on from STRATUS to the next chapter of her career.
From the start of her tenure at STRATUS in May of 2019, Dr. Navedo led the charge to design and implement quality assurance and quality improvement systems for our educational offerings. Her career prior to STRATUS was dedicated to developing and overseeing formal degree programs in the health professions education contexts.
I’m so grateful to have served on this team that loves innovation and inspired learning, and I’m excited for the future growth of STRATUS as an educational enterprise.

During her time at the center, Dr. Navedo brought a wealth of knowledge, skills, and expertise to every project she has worked on. “We have taken STRATUS from an already well-established educational institution and elevated it with program evaluation systems and an IT infrastructure that facilitates the automation of monitoring of quality metrics and educational outputs,” Dr. Navedo said. “Additionally, the research growth in these past four years under the leadership of Dr. Roger Dias has been absolutely phenomenal, and I’m honored to have served in support of this as well.”
While Dr. Navedo will be retiring from the Mass General Brigham system, she plans to continue working in the fields of simulation-based learning, qualitative research methods, and general education and assessment methods across the health professions. Dr. Navedo looks forward to the next chapter of her career and the flexibility that will allow her to have more time to travel with her husband and spend time with her family.
“Knowing I am leaving a great team behind, I wish for STRATUS the bright future that it deserves,” Dr. Navedo said. “It is truly bittersweet to move into an ancillary roll during its time of growth.”
